Tom Johnson: Failing, a very difficult piece for solo double bass (1975)
Antonin Dvorak : Quintette à cordes en sol majeur op. 77
Two absolute masterpieces of great music! The first half features Robert Schumann’s Piano Fantasy, an absolute masterpiece of the Romantic repertoire, performed by pianist Nicolas Bringuier, the grand prize-winner of the prestigious Schumann Competition in Zwickau.
This is followed, amongst other works, by Antonín Dvořák’s String Quintet in G major, Op. 77: Five musicians on stage to express the lyricism and the dark torments of the Romantic soul.
