Wagner & Mahler

Richard WAGNER (1813–1883) was a leading German composer of the 19th century.
He left a profound mark on the history of opera with works such as *The Ring of the Nibelung*, *Tristan und Isolde* and *Parsifal*.
He developed a new concept of ‘musical drama’, combining music, poetry, theatre and stage direction.
His influence on classical music and 20th-century composers remains considerable.
Gustav MAHLER (1860–1911) was a leading Austrian composer and conductor of the late 19th century.
He is particularly renowned for his symphonies and vocal works, which combine orchestral power with profound expressiveness.
His music explores themes such as life, death, nature and the human condition.
His work had a profound influence on 20th-century composers.

Held indoors in the main conference hall of the Cultural Centre.
6.00 pm: Doors open.
6.30 pm: Start of the lecture.
Price: €10 per person – €5 for CCC members
Unnumbered seats (free seating).
