A group of French sixth-formers set off on a school trip to Naples to explore the ruins of Pompeii and the bodies petrified by Mount Vesuvius. It is there that they are suddenly overcome by a sense of vertigo. One by one, they allow themselves to be swept away by desire and anger until they surrender to it completely.
