Dance on the Esplanade: Three Ballets by Christine Colombani – Acontretemps Company
Presentation
Join us on Saturday 13 June 2026 at 7:00 pm for an open-air dance performance featuring three ballets for all audiences on the Esplanade Aristide Briand.
The City of Cassis and the Acontretemps Company, directed by choreographer Christine Colombani, invite you to a vibrant evening of dance.
This family-friendly performance brings together 12 dancers in three ballets with distinct artistic worlds, blending energy, emotion and poetry. Accessible to both dance enthusiasts and newcomers alike, this creation promises an intense and captivating artistic experience in the open air.
Duos de Choc – 18 minutes
A succession of male–female duets presented as sporting competitions or playful battles, designed to keep the audience engaged and even encourage them to choose a “winner”.
Combining humorous, sometimes daring moments with more tender ones, the piece explores three sports with their own distinctive movements, enhanced by music: tennis, aikido and French boxing (savate).
Choreography and costumes: Christine Colombani
Music: Oscar Benton, Scott Joplin, taiko drums (samurai drums)
Las Tres Hermanas – 16 minutes
A chamber piece set in Argentina at the beginning of the last century.
Ana, the eldest of the three sisters, assumes both the role of mother and father for Agustina and Camila. She watches over her younger sisters with an iron hand, showing little tenderness.
Life for the sisters, dictated by Ana, could continue unchanged, letting time pass and slowly stealing away their young hearts… until the arrival of a young man turns everything upside down.
Passion intertwines with frustration, jealousy and rebellion. From this intense confinement emerges strength and power.
Choreography and costumes: Christine Colombani
Music: Astor Piazzolla
De Fuego – 28 minutes
Fire, magic, life.
A neoclassical dance with a contemporary edge, expressed through movements that are almost tribal, set to a fiery and spellbinding score. Hearts ablaze, stirred by love — the love of burning hearts, the kind that moves mountains, lifts us from the ground and drives us to passion and excess. Bodies embrace, and so do souls.
A return to primal emotions and the magic of feeling.
Choreography: Christine Colombani
Costumes: Amélie Pineau and Christine Colombani
Music: El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla
Founded in 2012 by Christine Colombani, a former dancer with the Opéra de Marseille who notably worked with Roland Petit and later became a soloist with the Ballet Royal de Wallonie, the Acontretemps Company creates works that are energetic, poetic and accessible.
