On September 19th, 2020 at 8.30 pm, Cassis Jazz Festival presents an exceptional concert at the Oustau Calendal, a congress and show centre located on the port of Cassis.
New album "Tunga Tunga's Band".
The disappearance of a parent often leads to introspection into the past, into the foundations of being. In the case of percussionist and singer Minino Garay, the loss of his father has plunged him back into the music he introduced him to, the cuarteto of his native region of Cordoba, also known as tunga tunga. Popular ballroom music, a mix of expressions of European origin such as tarantella or paso-doble, the rhythm is accentuated in each beat, giving it a family resemblance with the popular music of the Balkans or ska. Arrangements based on accordion, piano or violins accentuate the intoxication. The expressive singing draws its themes from popular sayings or love stories. For this tonic and introspective adventure, Minino Garay has enlisted the services of some of the old adventurers of the tunga tunga of Córdoba, such as the singers Carlos "La Mona" Jimenez, Carlos "Pueblo" Rolan and Ariel Ferrari, and the accordionist Eduardo Gelfo, who shares the bridle piano parts with the Frenchman Christophe Lampidecchia. The record is packed with guests such as the Argentinian group Los Caligaris and actress Alexandra Pandev, as well as an areopagus of percussionists, singers, flautists and string players. The majority of the compositions are original and the result of collaborations with the master of ceremonies, with the notable exception of Paolo Conte's Azzurro and a Spanish adaptation of Marc Lavoine's Yeux revolver (Tan Especial), which goes from a romantic trot to a frenetic gallop.
