THE OLYMPIC FLAME WILL BEGIN ITS JOURNEY THROUGH PROVENCE ON 12 MAY IN CASSIS!

The flame is due to set off from Cassis on a paddle from the Port Miou cove at 8.40am!

Over a distance of 5km, it will then cross the Presqu'île via avenue des Calanques, then Bestouan, avenue Amiral Ganteaume, up avenue Maurice Jermini then Ariste Gambi, avenue des Carriers, avenue Monseigneur de Belsunce, back down avenue de l'Abbé Cabrol, the Vence ring road, avenue du 11 novembre, rue Augustin Isnard, rue Autheman, rue Victor Hugo and quai st Pierre for a grand finish on the Grande Mer beach.

# On the weekend of the torch relay, the port and the town of Cassis are also organising the Cassis Sails Regatta, a race in the bay bringing together 30 old sailing ships. On this occasion, and on the eve of the passage of the Olympic flame, Saturday 11 May, at 10pm, fireworks will be set off in the bay.

# The town of Cassis is also working with sports associations to organise an Olympic village on the esplanade de Gaulle and the Grande Mer beach, on Saturday 11 May from 2pm to 6pm and Sunday 12 May from 10am to 4pm. On the programme: the Olympics as if you were there, with a climbing wall, a boxing ring, inflatable jousting, inflatable sumo, a wall of champions and table tennis. And rugby, human table football, football, handball, basketball and tennis on the beach. At the same time, rowing, kayaking and catamaran races will be organised on the water.

# In terms of cultural activities, a brunch will be organised on the de Gaulle solarium for children, associations and the general public, with music, dance and break dance competitions, a flashmob, followed by a special concert by Bande à Part.
